Burke Hollow Farmhouse was an excellent weekend base station on the Rasputitsa course and only 4 miles away from the start for our gravel grinding racing (and very close to the mountain bike trails). We arrived Friday evening, cooked a great dinner (all the utensils were there including a fantastic cheese grater). Tiaan and Lindley were very attentive to everything, they are in the neighboring house. They were very friendly and helpful, house was clean, spacious with nice open concept big windows, pretty farm views. We had all the utensils necessary for cooking up our spaghetti dinner Friday night. 6 of us had plenty of space for comfortable sleep and 3 bathrooms (capacity easily for 10). The garage was excellent space for keeping bikes, there is a hose for cleaning up bikes, etc. Despite the most challenging weather this year, we'll be definitely on at Burke Hollow for 2020 Rasputitsa!

THE SPACE: Beautifully renovated 100+ year old home. Downstairs was essentially wide open with gorgeous hardwood floors, big bright windows during the day and plenty of lighting for night. The upstairs had plenty of warm clean beds (and bathrooms) for everyone. Somehow the old floors didn’t creak so you didn’t have to worry about waking everyone up when you went to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. It was the perfect space for our group of 10. It had everything that we needed for a weekend ski getaway. It also wasn’t cluttered with anything we didn’t need so it was easy to completely move in and feel at immediately home. And clean. So clean. We’ll be back in the summer to take advantage of the big backyard and brook. THE HOSTS: Tiaan and Lindley were gracious hosts, excellent communicators, and appointed the space with everything we needed so we didn’t once have to go run to the store for coffee filters or salt. And the freshly boiled syrup you left on the doorstep for my birthday—wow some of the best I’ve ever had! THE HIGHLIGHTS: We loved the antique floors, tables, and furniture combined with modern lighting and kitchen and bathroom space. Mornings in the sitting room with coffee looking out over the 5 acre backyard. Evenings congregating around the big kitchen table. THE LITTLE THINGS I know I said it before but this place was spotless. Everything was clearly labeled and 100% idiot proof. The bathrooms had interesting 1-30min fan timers, so with 10 adults eating and drinking for days—you know they were used! And composting—It felt good to check out with a full compost bin, full recycling bin, and less than 1 full bag of garbage. Sometimes I check out of places after a big gathering and think—wow look at all that trash…gross. But not this weekend. Thanks again!

There were 6 of us and everyone loved Tiaan’s house, so here are some of the highlights of our stay: We felt right at home at this gorgeous farmhouse. Perfectly maintained, sparkling clean, spacious, completely equipped kitchen, super cozy living room with a corner bed that makes it even cozier (favorite place in the house unanimously), and comfortable bedrooms. There was art hanging on the walls that make it very warm and familiar. Big glass doors and windows for optimal lighting; huge peaceful yard and lots of open nature to enjoy fresh country air. Diverse library and board games at our disposal. For skiers: one-hour drive from Jay Peak and 10 min drive from Burke mountain. There is also plenty of room to park cars in the driveway. Tiaan is an outstanding host. Kind, generous, great communication, super helpful and invested in giving guests the best possible experience. He even gave us fresh eggs and was very attentive to whatever we might need. Highly recommended.
